Helene Woody

Waynesville-Marlene Woody, age 71, of 9979 White Oak Road, died on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Texie Teague Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Wils" Woody, who died in 2003; a son, Thomas Allen Woody; two brothers, Jack and Julius "Toot" Hunter; and one sister, Mildred McGinniss. Marlene enjoyed her flower garden and quilting and was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Rebekah Bonham and her husband, Jeff, of Waynesville; three sons, Stanley Woody and his wife, Barbara, of Crane, TX, Dennis Woody and his wife, Lynne, of Dallas, NC, and Jason Woody of Waynesville; two sisters, Betty Phillips, of TN, and Sarah "Tiny" Phillips of Waynesville; two brothers, Harold Hunter of Spring Creek, NC and Phil Hunter of Waynesville; seven granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at White Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Putnam and Burton Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to White Oak Baptist Church.
