Henry Inman

"Loving Son and Brother"

Waynesville, Henry Odell Inman, 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Haywood County he was the son of Lucille West Inman and the late Hobert Odell Inman. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Thomasine Meadows Inman; and a brother, Roy Inman. He was a member of East Waynesville Baptist Church. Henry first went into the Navy Reserve at Great Lakes, Illinois, he wasn't old enough to go into the army, he then transferred from Navy to the Army in 1961. Henry retired from the U.S. Army proudly serving for 21 years including two tours of duty with the Black Horse Tank Squadron in the Vietnam Era, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, and served as a Army recruiter for several years. He retired from Haywood Regional Hospital as a security guard with 20 years of service. Henry liked to hunt and loved to fish and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He was an active member of American Legion, VFW and Moose Lodge.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his brothers, Lewis Inman, and his wife, Lona Sue, of Waynesville, Paul Inman, and his wife, Ruth Green Inman, of Killeen, Texas; and Glenn Inman, of Waynesville; step-daughter, Gina Cable Clower, of Knoxville, Tennessee; special friend, Kay Rathbone, of Waynesville; nieces, Lisa Jenkins, and her husband, Marvin, Brenda, Lynn, Scotlyn and Traven Inman; and nephew, Dylan Inman; great-nieces and great-nephews, Blake and Oakley Jenkins, Avery and Jordan Orola, Ryan and Lauren Dela Rosa.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Sharpe and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Lewis Inman, 2298 Old Balsam Road, Waynesville.
