Henry Teague

France Teague, age 88, died Friday, October 5, 2007, at Silver Bluff Village. He was a native of Haywood County in the White Oak Community and a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late James Lawson and Mattie Russell Teague, and was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mattie Ledford Teague, who died in 2002. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sherrill and David Teague. France was a member of West Canton Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for 60 years and served as a deacon for 50 years. France faithfully served the Lord by being an example of Christ in and out of church. While a resident at Silver Bluff Village he continued to teach Sunday School. He was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Pace and her husband, Ronnie, of Canton and Anita Frizzell and her husband, Kenny, of Sylva; two sons, Gary Teague and his wife, Brenda, and Russell Teague and his wife, Wanda, all of Canton; a brother, Reverend Jarvis Teague of Clyde; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2007, at the West Canton Baptist Church with the Reverend Joe Stedman, Reverend Matthew Pruett, Reverend Jeff King and Reverend Chris Alley officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, past and present members of the Teague Sunday School class as well as the active and inactive deacons of West Canton Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the West Canton Baptist Church New Building Fund, 75 Lowe Street, Canton, NC 28716.
