Herbert Matthews

Herbert Matthews, 76, of Candler, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Jesse James and Sadie Irene Franklin Matthews.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Clara E. Matthews; children, Michael, Gary and Robin Matthews and Shavonda Bennett, and her husband, Brad; sister, Myrtle Soloman; brother, Delbert Matthews; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and church family of Stony Fork Baptist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 25th at Stony Fork Baptist Church, Candler, with Rev. Jeff Massey officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stony Fork Baptist Church, 494 Black Oak Cove Road, Candler, NC 28715.
