Hester Moody

April 23, 1923 — October 28, 2021

Waynesville

Waynesville, Hester Ann Putnam Moody, age 98, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

Hester was born in Haywood County on April 23, 1923, to the late Mark and Francis Putnam.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Moody; five sisters, Lucille, Loraine, Christine, Hattie and Dorothy; four brothers, Warren, Curt, John Thomas and Mark, Jr.

Hester’s heart was dedicated to her Savior first, then her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was the most precious prayer warrior for family, and friends and anyone who needed prayers.  She loved to read her Bible, having read it through at least a dozen times and sharing scripture with all whom she talked with.

She always welcomed you with a smile and would send you home with a jar of something that she had canned.  She was a farmer’s wife who worked diligently along side of her late husband, Jesse.  Hester was a wonderful example of a Proverbs 31 woman, she honored God, was truthful and faithful, she loved others, prayed for others and worked hard in everything she did.  She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing in church, she played the guitar as well.

She loved quilting, crocheting, and taking care of her family.  She shared her talent, in many ways.  She was blessed and a blessing to all who knew her.

Hester is survived by her son, Jesse Moody, Jr., and his wife, Linda; granddaughter, Cheryl Moody; two grandsons, Wesley and Shane Moody; sisters-in-law, Rose and Lois Moody; brother-in-law, James Astor Moody; several nieces and nephews; as well as lots of family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating.  Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Moody, Ryan Chambers, Bill Price, Johnny Price, Danny Moody and Edward Moody.
