Hilda Hollingsworth

Newport, TN-Hilda Irene Smiley Hollingsworth, age 85, of Newport, TN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Universal Health Care, Fletcher, NC. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Mark Jesse and Alice Smiley and preceded in death by her husbands, William Hollingsworth, who died in 1979, and Larry Long, who died in 2005; three sisters, Margaret Mashburn, Thelma Radford, and Cora Smiley; two brothers, Burton Smiley and Jason Smiley. Hilda was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Newport, TN. She loved flowers and enjoyed conversing with everyone she met. She is survived by three sons, Bill Hollingsworth and his wife, Betty, of Waynesville, Jesse Hollingsworth and his wife, Velma, of Waynesville, and Robert Hollingsworth and his wife, Julianne, of Arden; nine grandchildren, Julie Lovett, Cindy Zeit, Tommy Hollingsworth, Tim Hollingsworth, Christy Pace, Andrew Hollingsworth, Joshua Hollingsworth, Sierra Shell, and Anna Holcombe; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2006, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, with Reverend Mike Leslie officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
