Hilda Pressley

Canton- Hilda Mae Earley Pressley, age 90, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late William Calvin and Mary Lucinda Hall Earley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, R. Frank Pressley, who passed away in 2002 and a brother, Wade C. Earley. Hilda's sole purpose in life was caring for her best friend and husband, Frank. Her love for NASCAR began when Dale Earnhardt, Sr's, father, Ralph, raced for Frank. Hilda was an avid Braves fan and a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton. She is survived by a daughter, Zeata Ruff and her husband, Jim of Clyde; a son R. Michael Pressley and his wife, Lynn of Canton; three sisters, Wilsie Reed and Betty Lou Clontz and her husband, Ayward, all of Canton and Audrey Baxter of Asheville; five grandchildren, Tracy Conner and his wife, Debbie, Travis Conner and his wife, Kim, Tyla Moody and her husband, Jason; Dolly Byrd and her husband, Brian and Jeremy Pressley and his wife, Kristin and eight great-grandchildren, Kayla, Beau, Kirby, Kaden Conner, Madison Moody, Ellery and Evan Byrd and Jones Pressley. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jay Meadows and Reverend Richard L. Buff officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
