Hilda Wilson

Hilda Iola Wilson, age 74, went to be with our Lord on Friday, October 21, 2005. She was born June 3, 1931 to James Merida and Pearl Shipman Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Parham and brother, Guy Wilson. Hilda was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and worked at Dayco in Hazelwood for 35 years. She was a member of Long's United Methodist Church that she loved so much. Hilda felt that God had placed her here to help the sick and comfort the brokenhearted. She did this with such love and devotion. She is survived by her loving daughter, Diana Wilson Peek and her son-in-law, Thomas M. Peek, of Orlanda, FL; two grandsons, Joe Peek of Orlando, FL and David Peek and his wife, Megan of Jacksonville, FL. She leaves behind two nephews and their wives and families whom she loved dearly, J. L. and Verneta Parham of Canton and Jimmy and Shirley Parham of Fletcher, NC, along with their children. She has two surviving brothers, Blake Wilson of Hillsborough and Ralph Wilson and his wife, Ruth of Charlotte. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with the Reverend Bradford H. Holliman officiating. Burial will follow at Long's Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Thomas M. Peek, David T. Peek, Joseph M. Peek, J. L. Parham, Jimmy C. Parham and Alan Parham. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716; Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to a charity of their choice.
