Hillard Stamey

Leicester-Hillard Stamey, age 86, of Colton Drive, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at Aston Park Health Care Center.

He was born in Haywood County and was the son of the late John F. and Minnie Josephine Gaddis Stamey. He was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Stamey and a sister, Wilsie Abbott, and two brothers, Harold and Hugh Stamey.

He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. He retired from Colonial and Rainbow Bakery as a maintenance engineer.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Catherine Burnette Stamey; a son, Robert Everett Stamey, of Leicester; a daughter, Carolyn Winderbaum, of Valley Stream, New York; two sisters, Nancy Sides, of Monetta, SC and Susie Crawford, of Rutherfordton, NC; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2002 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The Reverend Virgil Holloway will officiate. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2002 at the funeral home.
