Hilliard Grasty

Clyde, Hilliard Ervin Grasty, age 75, died on Monday, October 18, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Marie S. Grasty. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Grasty. Hilliard was a former employee of Schulhofer's Junk Yard. He loved fishing and will be remembered for his sense of humor especially telling jokes and being a "ladies man." He is survived by two sons, Hugh Grasty and his wife, Polly, of Rosebud, Arkansas and Ervin Grasty and his wife, Lisa, of Clyde; a daughter, Karen Grasty of Waynesville; step mother, Lucy Hawkins Grasty of Canton; a sister, Eva Wolff of Tennessee; three brothers, Calvin Grasty of Waynesville, Danny Grasty of Siler City, NC and David Grasty of Candler; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; special friend, Ella Mae Grasty of Waynesville; many nieces and nephews and a special nephew Trinity Grasty. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 20, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend David A. Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Ervin and Lisa Grasty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autumn Care Nursing Home Activities Fund, P.O. Box 330, Waynesville, NC 28786
