Canton- Hobert Brown- age 64 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Isaac and Dora Fish Brown. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry L. Brown, and two brothers, Frank and David Brown. He was a self-employed plumber and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Brown enjoyed working on old trucks and had a heart for helping others. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Zenia Caldwell Brown; one daughter, Susan Trantham and her husband, Reverend Jimmy Trantham, of Clyde; two sisters, Betty Jo Hannah, of Canton and Elsie Rathbone, of Lincolnton; one half-sister, Isabelle James, of Hickory; one brother, Jack Brown; three half-brothers, John A. Brown, of Canton, Sambo Brown, of Waynesville and Andy Green, of Clyde; two grandchildren, Jason Trantham and April Chambers and her husband, Mike. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be, Joe, Dean and Doc Brown, David Elkins, Steven Lanning, Brian Lanning, Mike Chambers and Scott Ripp. Honorary pallbearers will be Hal McCracken, Jason Trantham and Albert Lanning. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Zenia Brown, 47 Upward Way, Canton.
