Hobert George Henry, age 82, of Thompson Cove Road died Monday, August 1, 2005 at his residence. He was a native of Jackson County and had resided in Haywood County for the last 18 years coming from Michigan. He was the son of the late M. J. and Addie Cogdill Henry. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Beck and Girlie Jones. He retired from Marathon Oil Company as a pipe fitter with 39 years of service. He was United States Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Vickie Davis Henry, he is survived by two sons, Gary M. Henry and his wife, Beverly of Fairview and Steven M. Henry and his fiancé, Theresa of Woodhaven, MI; a sister, Dixie Dehart of Bryson City; two brothers, Bill Henry of Sylva and Lewis Henry of York, SC; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
