Horace Crawford

Waynesville-Horace French Crawford, age 93, of 104 George's Branch, died Friday, April 8, 2005 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Harley and Annie Messer Crawford. He was a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church and retired in 1976 from the maintenance department of American Enka with 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, Dewain Frances Crawford; five brothers, Claude, Hugh, Howell, Wiley and Jerry Crawford. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Myrtle Fulbright Crawford; a son, Jimmie Ray Crawford and his wife, Patricia P., of Morganton; one brother, Frank Crawford and his wife, Opal, of Enka; two grandchildren, Darwin Dewain Crawford and his wife, Jamie K., of Waynesville and Rhonda L. Imand and her husband, John, of Ensley, SC; and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Woody Adams and Reverend Tom Lineberger officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Dean Medford, Charles Ferguson, Aaron, Buddy, and Bruce Crawford. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716 or ones favorite charity.
