Horace Medley

Waynesville, Horace Samuel Medley, age 81, of 87 Medley Drive, died on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at his residence. A native of Thomaston, Georgia, he had resided in Winter Garden, Clermont, and Crystal River, Florida before moving to Haywood County in 1993. He was preceded in death by a son, Horace Lee Medley, who died in 1999. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Hart Medley; one son, Gary H. Medley and his wife, Charlotte, of Lynn Haven, FL; two daughters, Linda Medley of Crystal River, FL and Melody Medley McDaniel and her husband, Scott, of Crystal River, FL; one brother, Dr. William A. Medley and his wife, Betty Jane, of Jacksonville, AL; six grandchildren, Neshi Hitson, James Edwards, John Edwards, Megan and Roger Jones, and Chris Howell; and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Calvary Road Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Rogers and Reverend John Swanger, III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Road Baptist Church Youth, 77 Sutton Loop, Waynesville, NC 28786.
