Howard Conard

Waynesville, Howard Junior Conard, 65, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at his home.

A native of Haywood County, Howard was a son of the late Junior and Ina Jenkins Conard.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Taft Conard.

Howard was a talented mechanic working on anything from lawnmowers to cars.  He enjoyed playing his guitar, camping and fishing.  He dearly loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Sharon Conard; three sons, Josh Campbell, Gordon R. Campbell and his wife, Ashley, and Scott Conard; six daughters, Mary Kay Orcutt and her husband, Allen, Jessica Conard Lindsey and her husband, Billy, Claudia Conard Thompson and her husband, Robbie, Melissa Conard Knight and her husband, Jason, Amanda Inman and Krista Conard; seven sisters, Barbara Fie, Mildred Henson, Loretta Conard, Rosetta Conard, Linda Deaver, June West and Dorothy Hall; and several beloved grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. May 13, 2021 in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with Reverend Paul Hensley officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in White Oak Baptist Cemetery.

Due to Covid-19, all protocols and mandates are requested to be followed, including mask.  The service will be live streamed and will be accessible through Mr. Conard’s obituary on Wells Funeral Home website to facilitate the ongoing focus on community safety and health.
