Howard Futrell

Howard Alton Futrell, age 74, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his residence. A native of North Hampton County, NC, he was the son of Howard Alvin and Rennie Draper Futrell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilton Ray Futrell. He was retired from the United States Army and Charleston Naval shipyard. He was a member of the Living Savior Lutheran Church. Howard was a member and current president of the Canton Lions Club. He was also a member of the VFW Post #5202 and American Legion #47. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the European Theater and Dessert Storm. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Hinde Futrell; a daughter, Terry Lynn Willis and her husband, Robert, of Clyde; a son, Howard Alton Futrell, Jr. and his fiancé, Renee, of Summerville; a grandson, Matthew Willis; a special pet, Angel; a sister-in-law, Bettie Ann Futrell, nieces, Vera Gray Wright, Christie Ann Futrell; and nephews, Ted Futrell, Stephen Futrell, Mark Futrell and families. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, on Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend John Qualmann and Reverend John Janosek officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Living Savior Lutheran Church in Asheville.
