Clyde, Howard McFalls, age 79, died on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Garret and Dorothy Reece McFalls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Reece McFalls, who died in 1994; two sons, Ed and Stan McFalls; and several brothers and sisters. He was a US Air Force veteran and retired in 1989 as a production supervisor from Babcox and Wilcox after 40 years service. Howard was a volunteer at Haywood Christian Ministries and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, raising horses, gardening, and working in his flowers. He is survived by a son, Steve McFalls and his wife, Julie, of Clyde; one daughter, Dotti Thomas, of Waynesville; one brother, Tommy Ledbetter, of Florida; five grandchildren, James Marsh and his wife, Cynthia, Jodie Ramsey and her husband, Thurmond, and Austin and Garret McFalls, and Johnny Reece; two great grandsons, Daniel and Brandon Marsh; and a special friend, Dorthea Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military services will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. Serving as pallbearers will be James Marsh, Austin and Garret McFalls, Johnny Reece, Randy Burress, Tony Knight, Mike Rogers, and Martin Davis. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Haywood Christian Ministries, 150 Branner Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
