Howard Payne

Canton - Howard Edward "Eddie" Payne, age 46, of Laurel Drive died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was a native Buncombe County and lived in Haywood County most of his life and was the son of Howard William "Bill" and Wanda Johnson Payne of Canton. He was a member of Plains United Methodist Church and attended Jonathan Valley Wesleyan Church. He was Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop #360 at Crabtree United Methodist Church and a member of the Natural Athlete's Strength Association Drug Free Power Lifting. He continued his spirit of giving by being an organ donor. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 13 ½ years, Melissa Welch of Canton; a son Whitt Winfrey and his wife, Roxanne of Clyde; a daughter, Amanda Owens and her husband, Jeff of Canton; a sister, Debra Payne Chambers and her husband, Bill of Canton and two grandchildren Cody Winfrey and Cinnamon Dobransky. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Jonathan Valley Wesleyan Church with the Reverend Edwin Luther, Reverend Kelly Jones, Reverend Clint Rowand and Reverend Eddie Hollifield officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30 at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton.
