Clyde, Howson Edward "Howie" Stevens, age 83, of Spicewood Drive, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at The Homestead. A native of Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of Howson and Frances Crouch Stevens. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Howson E. Stevens, Jr. and Darryl Stevens; a sister, Norma Morrison; and two half-brothers. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood-working and his working in his yard. Howie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Aileen Britton Stevens; daughters, June Ballard (Isaac) of Nebraska and Joy Isola of Florida; four sons, Guy Stevens (Betsye), Paul Stevens (Donna), Mark Stevens, and Lee Stevens (Trixie), all of Florida; brother, Ronald Stevens (Bev), of Florida; 22 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. At Howie's request, no services are planned. Burial will be in the WNC State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
