Hubert May

Waynesville-Hubert Walter May, age 60, of 7 Kudzu Loop, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at his residence. A native of Clay County, he was a former resident of Atlanta, Georgia, and had resided in Haywood County for the past 30 years. He was the son of the late Roy and Bonnie Morgan May. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Willard May. He was an elevator mechanic with Asheville Elevator Company and loved woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Karen Wyatt May; a son, Keith May and his wife, Anganette, of Canton; a sister, Mary Strobel and her husband, Paul, of Hayesville; four brothers, William S. May and his wife, Fran, of Charlotte, Vester Jeff May and his wife, Martha, of Brentwood, Tennessee, Bobby M. May and his wife, Veda, and Joe Riley May and his wife, Linda, both of Murphy; and one grandchild, Austin Kershaw. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Reverend Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Fulbright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
