"Loving Mother"
Waynesville, Ida Geneva Smiley Burris the rock and strength of her family, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native of Haywood County, Ida was the daughter of the late Jason Woodrow and Gladys Freeman Smiley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Ray Burris, who passed away on February 25, 2008; her son, Joseph Woodrow "Woody" Burris; two sisters, Stella Wilson and Etta Capps; brother, Jason Smiley, Jr.; two nephews, Greg and Scotty Wilson. Ida gave her children and her family the most important gift she could ever give them and that was teaching them daily about Jesus and loving them unconditionally. Her prayers, her Grace and her love for them has sustained her family through many things to become who they are today. She was a Proverbs 31 mother, she loved her children and her grandchildren more than life. She spent her life with a smile, a hug and a kiss for everyone. There was no one that came in contact with her that didn't love her.
She was employed at Ensley's Superette for 25 years. She was Charles right hand running Burris Trucking business out of their home for 37 years. They owned and operated Charlies Auto Parts for 7 years and during all this time raised her four children and took care of her six grandchildren. The remaining years of her life was spent daily enjoying her family, giving them every ounce of love and guidance she could sustain. She was a life-long member of Ninevah Baptist Church, where she served her Lord unconditionally and wherever she was needed.
Ida is survived by two daughters, Connie Cooper (Brian) and Stacy Freeman (Mark); and one son, Mark Burris (Amy) all of Waynesville; two brothers, Bobby Smiley (Sonja), of Gaffney, South Carolina and Sam "Sammy" Smiley (Kathy), of Waynesville; sister, Ellie Smiley, of Greer, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Amber Hower (Grant), Bethany Tice (Mark), KaLee Golden (Mark), Lauren Willett (Justin), and Joshua Freeman, all of Waynesville, Joseph Snyder (Faith) of Mooresville; and eight great-grandchildren, Elijah, Maddox, Ensley, Isaac, Reese, Hudson, Eleanor and Cutler. All of whom she lived her life for.
A sweet celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Dellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Rogers and Reverend Barry Willett officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park where she will be with Charles and Woody. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Joseph Snyder, Joshua Freeman, Mark Tice, Mark Golden, Grant Hower and Justin Willett.
Her family will be forever grateful for the Love and Care given to her by Silver Bluff Nursing Home. They will never know how much they are loved and appreciated.
