Ida Cherry

Waynesville-Ida Mabel Cherry, age 84, died on Friday, May 27, 2005 at Haywood Retirement Lodge of Waynesville. She was a native of Buncombe County, daughter of the late Claude M. and Cora Coats Cherry. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E. and Claude M. Cherry, Jr. She was a resident of Haywood County for 16 years and previously resided in Nyack, NY. She attended Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC. She was employed by Kyack Bible College in New York as a Librarian for 25 years. She also helped tutor in English, was an avid reader, and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a brother Donald A. Cherry and his wife Patsy, of Raleigh, NC, a cousin, Estelle Lawing, of Greensboro, NC, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2005 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, with Reverend Larry Jones officiating. The burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Asheville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
