Ila Moore

Canton – Ila Mae Buchanan Moore, age 97, of the Stamey Cove community passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at her home. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Lee and Florence Clementine Hyatt Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Casey Moore who died in 1987 and a son, Troy Moore who died in 2008. Ila Mae was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and a charter member of Beulah Baptist Church. She is survived by a son and his wife, Thomas David and Jennifer Blythe Moore, of Banner Elk; three grandchildren, Jackie Sue Moore Black and her husband, Terry of Canton, Casey Blythe Moore Mangum and her husband, James, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Tyler David Moore of Boone; two great-grand daughters, Ashley Nicole Purcell and Jessica Elizabeth Smith; six great-great-grandchildren; her former daughter-in-law, Annette C. Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeremy Hyde officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeremy Hyde officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
