Ila Reece

Ila Wynes Reece, age 91, of Wiggins Road died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. She was a native of Swain County and the daughter of the late Dillard and Laura Parris Wynes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Reece who died in 1953 and a son, Tommy Carroll Reece who died in 1971. She was a retired hairdresser with Enka Beauty Salon and a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She is survived by two granddaughters, Regina Messer and her husband, Gene, of Asheville and Tonya Thomas and her husband, Aaron, of Wake Forest; a grandson, Chris Reece and his wife, Melissa, of Weston, VT; five great-grandchildren, Coleman Reece, Jennifer Baker, Ashley Parker, and Sydney and Morgan Thomas; a great-great granddaughter, Angel Baker; and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2006, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
