Ileta Stamey

Ileta Hall Stamey, age 82, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Hopewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Mary Della Johnson Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Speedy" Stamey, who died in 2004. She was a member of Rescue Baptist Church. Ileta loved to socialize with her friends at the YMCA, making ceramics, and cooking and delivering meals to families in need. She is survived by a son, George "Bucky" Stamey and his wife, Helen, of Canton; two daughters, Carole Hyatt and her husband, Bobby, and Montene Williams and her husband, Troy, all of Canton; a half-sister, Mary Hall of Savannah, GA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ed Lowder and Reverend Jesse Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Carole and Bobby Hyatt.
