Maggie Valley, Ina Mae Sutton Rich, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at St. Joseph Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Teddy Roosevelt and Mamie Hestella Finger Sutton and also preceded in death by three brothers, Cole, Lloyd, and Theodore Sutton. Ina was a member of New Covenant Church and will be remembered for being a bold witness for the Lord as well as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted friend. She will also be remembered for her loving, caring spirit and her selfless acts of kindness. She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Albert Rich; one son, James Lloyd Rich and his wife, Robin, of Waynesville; three daughters, Margaret Franklin and Rebecca Green and her husband, Jerry, of Maggie Valley and Carolyn Crawford and her husband, Ralph, of Canton; two sisters, Nettie Hooper and Myrtle Noland and her husband, Mack, of Waynesville; two brothers, Rufus Sutton of Maggie Valley and Luther Sutton and his wife, Marie, of Waynesville; ten grandchildren, Scott and Jamie Crawford, Cindy Rivers, Bobby Franklin, Christina Trantham, Angie Carver, Alan, Amanda, and Jeremiah Rich, and Laura Rich Acosta; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews and a host of special friends. A celebration of Ina's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at New Covenant Church with Reverend Nick Honerkamp officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.
