INA SAWYER
Waynesville-Ina Julie Mae Sawyer, age 90, 916 Allens Creek Road, died Monday, October 28, 2002 at her residence.
A native of Graham County, she had lived in Haywood County for the last 59 years. She was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Crisp Burress. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie McKinley Sawyer, who died in 1989; two sons, Lester and Lewis Sawyer; four brothers, Ray, Ferrel, Floyd, and Willie Burress; and one sister, Loye Kennedy. She was a member of Camp Branch Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Nellie Mae Rogers and Shirley Ann Rogers, both of Waynesville; two sisters, Ella Mashburn of Raleigh and Dare Rogers of Waynesville; three brothers, McKinley, Harley, and Landon Burress, all of Waynesville; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2002 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Rogers and Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at the funeral home, and at other times the residence.
