Inis Sluder

Inis Margaret Chandler Sluder, born April 24, 1926, raised in the Walnut Community of Madison Co. and formerly of Indian Trail Rd., Candler, died March 21, 2014 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center. Inis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sluder on January 3, 2014; a son, Fredrick Freeman; and a granddaughter, Christy Freeman. Her parents Sam & Mary Ann Watkins Chandler, siblings Fredrick, Leta, Frances and Sally Kate. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Rev. Jack Presnell; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Aundry Freeman. After being mom to Freddie, Mary and Larry, she became the grandmother to eight; great-grandmother to thirteen; and great-great-grandmother to five. Her days began and ended in prayer for her family and friends. Holidays and special occasions celebrated at her home with large family meals and lots of laughter will be remembered fondly. And a yard full of blooming flowers was a must. She retired from Highland Hospital. The family wishes to thank the staff of Emerald Ridge who cared for her and went above and beyond to comfort and pamper her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Presnell and Rev. Jack W. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory
