Ira Henson

Canton-Ira Lee "Monk" Henson-age 87, of 1000 Burnette Cove Road, died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at his residence.

He was a son of the late Robert Lee and Ophelia Browning Henson and was a member of Burnette Cove Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille Kuykendall Henson, four daughters and their husbands, Betty and Phillip Inman of Clyde, Mary and Bill Cogburn of Clyde, Phyllis and LTC William Sellen of Granada Hills, CA, JoAnn and Clifford Ruff of Hazelwood, one son, Robert Lee Henson and his wife Grovina of Canton, one brother, Bobby Queen of Mineral Springs, NC, 8 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 26 step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Burnette Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Barry Clark and Reverend Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Homes of Canton. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Cruso Fire Dept.
