Ira Singleton, Jr.
Canton-Ira "Jin" Singleton, Jr. of 5 Messer Road died unexpectedly Monday, December 23, 2002.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of Wilma Rogers Singleton of Canton and the late Ira Singleton, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Singleton. Ira was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church and was an avid lover of diesel engines which was his trade, and he enjoyed traveling.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jimmie Pressley Singleton, two sisters, Judy Lanning and her husband Lawrence and Pat Williams, all of Canton, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Singleton of Canton and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2002 at Dutch Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Ed Lowder officiating. Entombment will follow at the Crawford/Ray Horizon Mausoleum in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Homes of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the home of his mother, Wilma R. Singleton, 3 Messer Road, Canton, NC 28716.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Air Conditioning Fund or the Video Fund at Dutch Cove Baptist Church, 4161 Dutch Cove Road, Canton, NC 28716.
