Irene Uveges

Maggie Valley, Irene Uveges, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Skyland Care Center in Sylva. A native of Debrecen, Hungary, she had previously lived in New Jersey before moving to Haywood County in 2007. She was the daughter of the late Laszlo and Borbale Kozak Kasszian and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Imre Suhajda and her second husband, Alex Uveges. Irene was owner and operator of the Castlewood Inn in Maggie Valley. She is survived by a son; Attila Suhajda and his fiancée, Tina Kolodjeski, of Maggie Valley; two grandchildren; David Suhajda and Amy Steele and her husband, Fran, and; two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Veronica Steele; a sister, Katalin Meszeros of Mesa, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. At her request no services will be held. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
