Irene Wright

Irene Beddingfield Wright, age 83, of Holder Branch Road went to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her home with her family by her side. A resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Daisy Christopher Beddingfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wright, who died in 2003. She was a long standing member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Her greatest joy was singing in the choir. She also enjoyed spending many hours working in her flowers, gardening, and quilting. She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Kuykendall of Candler; two sons, Roger Wright and his wife, Debra, of Canton and Max Cordell and his wife, Joan, of Jacksonville, FL; Kayelynn Hall, family friend and care partner; two sisters, Heloise Cook of Loganville, GA and Mildred Crook of Canton; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
