Iwanna Pankiw

Waynesville, Iwanna Korolsyn Pankiw, age 88, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at her residence. A native of Ukraine, she had resided in Haywood County since 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pankiw, in 2005; one daughter, Theodosia Pankiw; and two sons, Mark Paul and Donnie Pankiw. Iwanna retired from Welco Corporation and enjoyed gardening and playing bingo. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She is survived by one son, George O. Pankiw and his wife, Beverly, of Macon, Georgia and three grandchildren, Jason and Rachel Pankiw and Christopher Pankiw and his wife, Megan. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Larry Lomanaco officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. A rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
