"1931 – 2016" Canton – James Charles "J.C." Inman, age 84, passed away February 1, 2016 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Edward and Flonnie Mabel Reece Inman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Inez Smith, Pauline Jenkins, and Mildred Brown; and two brothers, Rene and Elmer Inman. J.C. worked for the Town of Canton as assistant supervisor for the water department for 15 years and was a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church. Prior to working with the town of Canton, he worked at Brookshire Plumbing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building things and he loved Blue Grass music. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Thelma Medford Inman; two sons, Ray Inman and his wife, Sandy, and Jerry Inman and his wife, Sheila Faye, all of Canton; two grandchildren, LeShane Mathews (Chris) and Briteny Polo (George); three great-great-grandchildren, Shandy Mathews (Michael), Nicki Mathews, and Kinzlee Polo; and one great-great-grandchild, Corbin Mathews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
