Jack Blalock, Sr.

Canton-Jack Monroe Blalock, Sr., age 71 died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

He was a native of Haywood County and was the son of the late Charles Walter and Nova Pressley Blalock. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Blalock who died in 1951. Mr. Blalock retired from Champion Cab Company in 2001 and was a former scout master of the Bethel Troop #312 Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Mary Henderson Blalock of Canton, four daughters; Keitha Rathbone and Kathy Corley both of Canton, Kimberly Hensley of Asheville and Krista Brown of Charlotte, two sons; Jack "Jay" Blalock, Jr. and J. Michael "Elmo" Blalock both of Canton, one sister; Joan Summey of Hendersonville, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend James Huey officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
