Jack Martin Blythe, age 90, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at his oldest daughter's residence in Greenville, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Herman S. and Roberta Martin Blythe. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving in World War II based in Okinawa Island. Jack was a bombardier and bombardier instructor and flew on the B-29 over Pearl Harbor. He retired from Champion International as a Supervisor with 42 years of dedicated service He is survived by two daughters Sheridan Blythe Johnson and her husband, David, of Greenville, SC and Jo Blythe of Knoxville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Dr. Jack M. Cole of Moore, South Carolina, Joshua B. Cole of Tampa, Florida, Brooke C. McCall of Rosman, Erin B. Mack of Waynesville, and Jacqueline J. Lanier of Greenville, South Carolina; siblings, Patrice M. Shaw of Illinois, Dr. Harry R. Mamlin of Charlotte, Dr. Joseph J. Mamlin of Eldoret, Kenya, and Benard Mamlin of Suffolk, Virginia; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy C. Lindsay of Brandenton, Florida. A private graveside memorial service will be held on their wedding anniversary with military honors; celebrating the lives and combining the ashes of Jack Martin and his wife, Betty Lindsay Blythe, who passed away on January 27, 2006. Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
