Jack Bormet

Jack Stephen Bormet, age 81, of Allen Farm Road died Monday, June 27, 2005 at his residence. He was a native of Akron, Ohio and had lived in Haywood County since November, 2004. He was the son of the late Jacob Bormet and Elizabeth Zimmer Bormet. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Bormet and an infant sister Theresa Bormet. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Laurinburg, NC and an American Legion member. He enjoyed outdoor gardening. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Betty Lane Bormet, he is survived by four daughters, Vanda Ilijevich of Hamlet, NC, Christina Rozuk and her husband, Robert of Akron, OH, Mary Allen and her husband, Douglas of Hickory, and Cathleen Thompson and her husband, Steve of Canton; two sons, Jack Bormet and his wife, Ellen of Laurel Hill, NC and Daniel Bormet and his wife, Joyce of Hamlet, NC; two brothers, Richard Bormet of Houston, TX and Ralph Bormet of Casselberry, FL; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Father Frank Doyle officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery with military graveside honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
