Jack Caldwell

October 9, 1934 — March 6, 2007

Waynesville-Jack D. Caldwell, age 72, of Lowell Street, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native and life long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Ella Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son Bobby Caldwell, and five brothers. He graduated from Waynesville Township High School in 1952. Mr. Caldwell retired from Dayco Belts Department after 27 ½ years of service. He was of Baptist faith. Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Elk and Moose Lodges and raised cattle most of his life. He is survived by a wife of 36 years, Hazel Green Caldwell; one daughter Sherry Caldwell , of Pompano Beach, Fl.; one son Tommy Caldwell, and his wife, Ann, of Waynesville; seven sisters Minnie Parton, Annie Caldwell, Cora Moody, Sarah Sutton, Betty Cook and Ruby Bradley, and her husband, Bob, all of Waynesville and Mary Waldrop, of Easley SC.; one brother Thurman Caldwell, and his wife, Katie of Waynesville and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home, and at other times, at the home. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Charles and Tommy Williamson, Johnny and Charles Caldwell and Harold and Scott Sutton. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Messer, Tommy Hyatt, Harold Sorrells, Jack Brown, Joe Smith, Phil Leopard, Mark Leopard, Bill Metts, Bill Eden, Gordon Prince, Gene Howell and Albert Henson. Memorials may be made to charity of one's choice.
