Jack Deaver

Jack E. Deaver Canton-Jack Edward Deaver, age 78, of Burnette Cove Road, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Mission Hospital Memorial Campus. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Charles and Lola Singleton Deaver. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Deaver. He retired in 1993 from Ecusta Paper as a millwright with 40 years service. Upon retirement, Jack enjoyed working with his dump truck and backhoe, and also stockcar racing with his son, Steve. Jack was always there to help a friend in need. He was a member of Burnette Cove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie H. Deaver; three sons, Steve Deaver and his wife, Juanita, Mark Deaver and his wife, Clara, and Mike Deaver and his wife, Vicky, all of Canton; one daughter, Denise Higgins and her husband, Tommy, of Canton; five sisters, Lillian Justice and her husband, Robert, and Janet Frady all of Canton, Norma Caudle and her husband, Tony, of Waynesville, Patsy Chambers and her husband, Elwood, and Martha June Blazer all of Charlotte; two brothers, J.D. Deaver and his wife, Louise, and Gary Deaver and his wife, Joanne, all of Canton; seven grandchildren, Brian and Timothy Hudson, Sherrie Washington, Micah Deaver, Ashley Nesbitt, Dana Febles and Ethan Deaver ; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby and Reverend Harry Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
