Jack Franklin Robinson, age 88, of 29 Ganey Fork Road in the Beaverdam Community went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Lonnie Frank and Leila Harbin Robinson. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Evelyn Best Robinson, who died in 1960 and Aileen J. Robinson, who died in 1984; a sister, Sue R. Welch; and a brother, Henry Robinson. He was an active member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church, where he had attended since childhood. He was a trustee for the Beaverdam Community Cemetery for 58 years and was a member of Beaverdam United Methodist Men's Association. Jack retired from Champion International in 1980 after 34 years of service in the Maintenance Department. After retiring, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending auctions and flea markets, watching and reading westerns, and vacationing at Lake Chatuge, Hiawassee, Cataloochee, and Smokemont. He loved life and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Butch Henson; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Mitzi G. Robinson; a sister, Kate R. Best; granddaughter Kim H. Ashe and her husband, Eric; two grandsons, Bret Henson and his wife, Tabatha, and Josh Robinson all of Canton; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Spencer, and Seth Henson, and Savanna and Jesse Ashe; a nephew, David Robinson; and two nieces, Nancy Jackson and Anne Jenkins. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at Beaverdam United Methodist Church with the Reverend Naomi King officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence of his daughter, Barbara Henson, 37 Beaverdam Heights. Pallbearers will be Josh Robinson, Bret, Spencer, and Seth Henson, Eric and Jesse Ashe, David Robinson, Tim Jackson, and Will Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray McDowell and Ed Bell.
