JACK A. HANEY, SR. Shelby- Jack Alexander Haney, Sr., age 79, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Wendover Heights. He was a native of Haywood County and resided in Cleveland County for the past seven years of his life. He was the son of the late Washington Prentiss and Leslie Price Haney. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Rebecca McKinney Haney, who died in 2007; and two brothers, Jerry Carroll and Richard Washington Haney. He was a United States Army and Navy veteran. Jack was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending Rescue Baptist Church while visiting his family. He was a very talented chef and most noted for preparing and serving meals for three US Presidents during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA. Jack was also proud of his law enforcement career in Maine and Brevard. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and held a special place in his heart for his cat "Rusty Pumpkin." He is survived by a daughter, Sabrina Jenkins and her husband, Ricky, of Shelby, NC; a son, Jack Haney, Jr. of Shelby, NC; two sisters, Judith Ann Henson and her husband, Wayne, of Cosby, TN and Katherine Elaine Passmore and her husband, Jerry, of Morganton, NC; a brother, Joe Bob Haney and his wife, Nancy, of Canton; five granddaughters, Ashley Allard, Lauren Allard, Amanda Haney, Megan England, and Paige Jenkins; a great-granddaughter, Payten Dyson; and many other nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jesse Hollingsworth officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rescue Baptist Church at 848 Beaverdam Street, Canton, NC 28716.
