Jack C. King, age 83, passed away on October 24, 2011 at MedWest – Haywood. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Margie Hall King. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Brown. Jack was a 1950 graduate of Leicester High School and he retired in 1990, with 39 years of service, from Champion International. He loved bluegrass music, playing the mandolin and guitar. Jack also enjoyed reading and watching Atlanta Braves baseball. Jack was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Grooms King of Canton; one son, Danny King and his wife, Debbie, of Waynesville; one daughter, Rebecca MacEmcy and her husband, Dennis, of Candler; three sisters, Evelyn Chapman of Weaverville, Reva King of Asheville, and Eva May Worley of Old Fort, five brothers, Hubert King of Canton, Clyde and Wayne King both of Leicester, William King of Kings Mountain, and Hurley King of Leicester; one grandson, Kevin Seay of Candler; one great-grandson, Jacob Seay of Candler; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road with the Reverend Elisha Fish officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
