Asheville – Jack Gentry Robinson, age 79, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late J.V. and Lena Gaddy Robinson. He was a farmer and was recognized as "Outstanding Young Farmer" by the Asheville Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and he and Emma planned senior citizen trips for the past 14 years. Jack was a United States Navy veteran having served during peace time. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emma Lue Brookshire Robinson; two sons, James Eugene "Gene" Robinson and his wife, Jane, of Weaverville, and Jackie Gerald Robinson and his wife, Gayle, of Leicester; two sisters, Rosie Reynolds and Vange Wheeler both of Candler; one granddaughter and her husband, Cortney and Adam Gordon; and two grandsons, Alex and Cody Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Pole Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Thurman and Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
