Waynesville, Jackie Sue Messer Farmer, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Memorial Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Hugh and Mary Ann Henson Messer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Farmer, who died in 1995. She was a former employee in the Housekeeping Department at Lake Junaluska Assembly and also a former employee of Lea Industries. Jackie had been disabled for a good portion of her life and enjoyed watching gospel music programs on TV. She was a member of Rocky Branch Free Will Baptist Church. Jackie is survived by her brother, Gene Messer, of Waynesville; a sister, Pauline Reyes, also of Waynesville; a nephew, Treagon Messer, and his significant other, Mica Turpin, of Atlanta; two nieces, Amanda Kearns of Jacksonville, Florida and Melinda Aguirre, of Waynesville; and eight great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylva. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time at the funeral home.
