Jackie Mease

Canton- Jackie Fulton "Yogi" Mease, age 64, of 36 Wahya Trail passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Care Partners Hospice Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jack Blake and Juanita Pittman Mease. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dannie Mease, who died in 1998. He was a 1968 graduate of Pisgah High School and later attended Haywood Community College. He was briefly employed with NAPA Auto Parts and was later employed with Blue Ridge Paper Products for 30 years. Jackie lived life to the fullest and always carried a smile on his face. Haywood County was a special place to Jackie, where he was an active member of the Haywood Regional Fitness Center, a lifetime member of the Haywood County Rescue Squad, board member of the Cruso Volunteer Fire Department, and a volunteer at Junaluska Animal Hospital. Jackie was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was a deacon as well as the Sunday school superintendent. Near and dear to his heart were his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Bumgarner Mease; a daughter, Juli Rogers and her husband, Travis; a son, Justin Fulton Mease and his wife, Joni, all of Canton; six grandchildren, Charlie, Tegan and Chappel Rogers, and Jake, Luke and Sawyer Mease; and loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack Holland and the Reverend W.O "Bill" Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
