Jackson Baird

Waynesville, Jackson K. "Buddy" Baird, Jr, age 39, of Killian Street passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at his residence. Buddy was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and had resided in Franklin, NC, prior to moving to Haywood County. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, C.D. Baird, Jr. and Josephine Baird and maternal grandfather, James Watts. Buddy had been employed at several facilities as a Nursing Assistant in Haywood County and had helped many families throughout the county. He is survived by his father, Jack Baird and his wife, Connie, of Franklin, NC; his mother, Shirley Watts Cagle and her husband, Mike, of Waynesville; a son, Logan Petersen of Huntersville, NC; three daughters, Krystal Gates and her husband, Shane, of Fayetteville, NC; Savannah Lawrence, of Ballard, West Virginia and Nancy Baird, of Huntersville, NC; two sisters, Tammie Metcalf, and her husband, Tony, of Clyde and Tracy Arrington, and her husband, Ronnie, of Waynesville; three brothers, Lee Cagle and his wife, Elizabeth, Trent Cagle and his wife, Kim all of Waynesville and Kelly Baird and his wife, Jenny, of Glenville, NC; maternal grandmother, Terry Campbell, of Waynesville; children's mother, Teresa Metcalf, of Marshall, NC; one granddaughter, Kayli Gates; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Scott Massey and Reverend Johnny Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Brancy Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of his mother, Shirley Cagle, 96 Traders Place, Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan and Todd Wright, Ronnie Williams, Greg Brom, William Howell, Andy Hoglen, Bo and Gary Friemuth and Brenda Jenkins.
