JAMES R. BRYSON, JR.
Lake Junaluska-James R. Bryson, Jr., age 66, of 1014 Old Clyde Road, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
A native of Jackson County, he had resided in Haywood County for more than 20 years, and was the son of the late James R. and Rosa Lee Passmore Bryson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Bryson Breedlove. He was employed by the Smoky Mountain National Park Service as a carpenter for 22 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Geraldine ''Jerry'' Owenby Bryson; two sons, James Tyler Bryson of Canton and Gerald Travis Bryson and his wife, Christy, of Maggie Valley; two sisters, Linda Barton and Carrie Jo Duckworth, both of Brevard; two granddaughters, Andrea Bryson Buchanan, and her husband, Chad, and Saundra Carrie Bryson; a grandson, Everette Tyler Bryson; and two great-grandchildren, Colton and Casey Buchanan.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Dan Holbert officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corp, the American Legion Post 47, and V.F.W. Post 5202. Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Steve Nicholson, Shane Smith, Micha Cogdill, and Chad Buchanan. The family will receive friends from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
