James "Jim" F. Buell, age 92, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at his residence. A native of Andrews, NC, he was the son of the late Ray and Flo Kellogg Buell. He retired from Champion International in 1979 with 42 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Jim loved playing practical jokes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and in his spare time working on small engines.. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and served in the National Guard for 22 years after being discharged from the Army. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edna H. Buell, three daughters, Jimmi Buell of Sylva, Deanna Buell of Canton, and Pam Jackson and her husband, Steve, of Waynesville; a sister, Betty Hendrix of Fletcher; and a grandson, Shannon Haney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Thomas Kemp officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
