James Carroll

Waynesville, James Robert Carroll, age 74, of Sutton Town Road, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at The Homestead. A native of Dothan, AL he had resided in Haywood County for the past 15 years. He was preceded in death his father, Eddie Roy Carroll and his mother Gladys Graves Carroll Hall and a daughter, Melody Carroll. J. R. was a U.S. Army Veteran and was the owner of Smoky Mountain Motors in Maggie Valley. He was of the Catholic faith. J.R. loved fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lolita V. Carroll, one daughter, Karen Assad of Tallahassee, FL; four sons, Richard Wesley of Lake Mary, FL; William Andrew Carroll of Las Vegas, NV; James Robert Carroll and his wife Alysia of Cherokee and Darin Kalis of Waynesville, NC; 13 grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Father Larry LoMonaco officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Waynesville Lions Club, Clinical Eye Research, 73 Graham Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
