James William Clodfelter, 100, entered into Heaven at the Valor Hospice, Charles George VA Medical Center on Sunday, April, 2017. Born in Troy, NC on October 1, 1916, he was the son of the late Alexander Christenberry Clodfelter and Mattie Moore Clodfelter. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran, serving as a cryptography technician with Headquarters, 3rd Air Force, MacDill Army Air Field, Tampa, FL and with Headquarters, 319th Bomb Group in Okinawa.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eugene and sisters, Ruth, Polly, and Ruby.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margaret Hoover Clodfelter; sons, Michael (Judy) of Leicester and Stephen (Frankie McKin, fiancé) of Asheville; granddaughters, Daisha of Leicester and Leigh (Jon) of San Diego, Ca.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 6th at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler with Pastor Ronnie Owen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 Mt Carmel Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
